Halloween DIY: 'Carrie' Hat

Leave it to Burger&Fries (aka the go to guys for re-worked and up cycled pieces) to create a 'Carrie' inspired snapback cap that combines a whole lot of blood and a whole lot of Barbie.

What you’ll need:

White cap
Barbie head
Cutting knife
Red acrylic paint
Fairly small paint brush
Thread and needle
A small toy bucket
A piece of foam
Glue gun

Step 1:

Cut the foam so that the narrower end fits inside the bucket. Don't spend too much time cutting the foam piece too neatly as it's going  to be covered in blood (red acrylic paint) and the rougher the edge, the more texture it's going to have.

Step 2:

Sew the Barbie head on to the hat through the back of the head. I recommend using a metal thimble as it can be quite challenging getting the needle through the rubber. Then glue the foam on to the head securely with your glue gun.

Step 3:

Paint the foam and the hot glue base with red acrylic paint. Use a thin brush to paint around the hair to make sure everything is covered. The more texture your foam has, the more gutsy your blood is going to look, and acrylic paint is great for that!

Step 4:

Allow the paint to dry before carrying out this step (thin layers will dry fairly quickly, but thicker areas will take longer).  Once everything has set, glue the bucket to the tip of the head.
