Street Week/ 10/10/10

Our weekly highlights from the Streetstyle blog lot, pieced together for your Marketplace enjoyment and inspiration.

Monday kicks off in fine form with a Milan Fashion Week shot from The Sartorialist. The fine filly below looks completely at ease in her vintage slip amid the surrounding fashion week shuffle. It’s slightly hard to make out the embellishment on the bottom, it’s certainly a beautiful detail but if, as I suspect, it’s pearled - then you’ll be hard pressed to find me in anything other than antique nighties from here on in. Day to Night? So Passé. It’s all about Night to Day. Don’t be too fooled by her casual nonchalance though – this is certainly a coordinated look. Canny lass has not only matched her hair colour to her woven flats, but has also clearly thought through her vintage integrity. Iphone schmiphone, paper notebook all the way.

Tuesday brings some Nordic beauty courtesy of Lookbook.Nu, with this gorgeous cable knit creation. The hint of fair-isle is kept current by it’s cape like shape, and the black velour stacked wedges definitely know what’s shaking.

Wednesday brings us the delightful Raphael, photographed by Copenhagen Street Style. Raphael lists his occupation as ‘traveller’. Isn’t that brilliant? Just a colourful little vagrant idling his way through Europe, just waiting to be chanced upon by a rogue fashion photographer. His cardigan does need special mention though. It looks like it was made by Nintendo, and that is no bad thing at all.

Thursday is our shameless Marketplace shout out day, so we’ve snuck in a shot of our own. Out and about in sunny Camden we snapped Sarah in a beautiful Natalie Brown 2 tone necklace. I love the metallic friendship between the necklace and the studded jacket, but I double-love how the whole look has a completely Autumnal-LUXE feel to it. The park helps too of course.

Friday brings us a belated Paris Fashion Week snap from the Face Hunter. Clearly not lacking in leg department, this lady is the perfect canvas for an intricate knitted mini. The teeny dark tan belt keeps everything nice and sleek too. HINT – if you like this, then I’d put some monopoly money on you rather enjoying our very own Alice Lee Marketplace boutique.

Saturday takes us over to Berlin c/o GlamCanyon for a lesson in oversized dressing. Hard to tell in the below photo, but that coat is wool! From afar the pattern makes it look almost like a logo’d Macintosh. 2 for 1, bargain. The black fur scarf adds a much needed playful touch, saving it all from becoming a bit stoic. Sidenote – Cate Blanchett called. She wants her face back.

Finally, a little whimsy to end your weekend. Well, it rather speaks for itself doesn’t it? This image of Elena Perminova on her way over to the French Vogue 90th Anniversary Party (shot by Jak & Jil) is pure fantasy. Street style? barely… but I think we all need a little fairytale once in a while.
