Travel Diary: Las Vegas Trade Shows

Our Global Brand Scout Luke flew over to sunny Las Vegas to discover the best emerging talent at the bi-annual tradeshows – take a look at what he found…

Las Vegas isn't the first place you think of when it comes to fashion, but twice a year some of the most exciting brands from around the globe gather to show and sell their collections at the trade shows.

You’ll find three big shows on during trade show season: the first is Agenda, where lifestyle brands and streetwear collections converge, then there is Capsule, fusing the best high-end, progressive brands and independent designers, and finally Project, showcasing men’s and women’s advanced contemporary, premium denim and designer collections.

Agenda was definitely my favourite show of the week. The brands couldn’t have been more impressive and had real freshness to them. I found everything from streetwear to sportswear, skate and surf brands.

The buzz around the show was amazing too, with events and special installations happening all over the place; from in-house barbers, to a skateboard being planted through the windscreen of a police car (and Rebel 8 showcasing their new collection out of it’s boot!) You could also witness awards being presented from fashion magazines/blog slam x hype honouring the year’s best trainers and collaborations.

Amazing clothes were everywhere at the shows, and not just from the brands showing there. I personally prefer to see what the guys and girls that run their own brands are wearing to give me an indication of the where the trends are moving, certainly more so than the catwalks. It turns out sportswear doesn't seem to be going anywhere in the near future; bomber jackets, mesh fabrications and basketball jerseys were worn by everyone.
