LFW Love/ Mark Fast

Mark Fast is next up on our LFW love list – rounding up the best picks from the new fash pack. This is Mark’s fourth collection to be shown at LFW. All of Mark’s designs are made by hand on a domestic knitting machine using innovative stitching techniques that blend lycra with viscose, angora or wool.

Mark Fast 'SS11 Runway 1

Anyone who knows our Fashion Scout Jemma, knows that she likes to talk about her love for Mark Fast in awkwardly graphic detail. Mark’s knitwear is frankly, sexual, and his ‘SS11 show was just darn rude. Piquant colours were shaken with spicy ladies, but honey, don’t go thinking Mark’s collection was all talk and no trump cards. The dresses worked their wearers and the girls just as good back.

Fringing may be making one helluva comeback, but Mark’s tasselled twists were a sophisticated take, adding effortless liquidity to a smooth sashay. Sending out models of different size, shape and colour -it was a celebration of bodies, regardless of their owner.

Mark Fast 'SS11 Runway White Dress

Knitwear wrapped round curves and hung off the rake-likes, but started a party on both. A clever evolution from Marks previous collections – It was as if his whole runway was a PH indicator strip, dipped in lemon juice until it reached its climax. The final pure white dress might just be our favourite from the whole of LFW. A fitting end to a dynamo of a show - a dress that just wont stay still.
